Starring silent film legend, Buster Keaton, this newly recut version (24 mins. in length) syncs with new/original music for theater ensemble by Scott Watson

Commissioned by the New Holland Band (New Holland, PA), Dr. Kenneth Laudermilch, Director ; premiering October 7, 2023 at Cairn University (Langhorne, PA).

THE GOAT instrumentation:
Flute 1 & 2, Clarinet 1 & 2, Alto Sax, Bassoon, Bass Clarinet, Trumpet 1 & 2, French Horn, Trombone 1 & 2, Tuba, Violins 1 & 2, Cello, Percussion 1 (Drum Set, Aux.) & Percussion 2 (Bells/Xylophone, Timpani).

Buster On the Run!

for Large Percussion Ensemble

BUSTER ON THE RUN! (for Large Percussion Ensemble) is 3 minutes of non-stop rollicking, zany fun! The piece may be played alone or in sync with the finale scene from the 1921 Buster Keaton silent film, THE GOAT.

Scored for a large ensemble of mallets (Bells, Vibraphones, Xylophone, Marimbas), battery percussion (including sound effect toy percussion), and optional bass, Buster On the Run! was commissioned by the award-winning Nazareth Area High School Percussion Ensemble (Nazareth, PA), Rick Hilborn, director.

Chaplin and a saloon bully have eyes for the same dance hall girl! A hilarious scuffle ensues as the hapless Tramp brings down the house and wins over the crowd...and the girl!
